I'm 29 and I live in Assen, a small town in the Netherlans.
When I was 22 I went to artschool in Groningen, here I explored diffrent tecniques and materials.
After graduation I did a few art projects and had several temp jobs.
June 26 I opend my Etsy shop, I started with collage coasters and bookmarks and recently I also added bigger collages.
I love to make collages because you can move things arround untill its perfect.
All the paper I use is painted by me, using diffrent watercollor tecniques, the great thing about that is that every piece of paper I use has its own unique collor and texture.

Hello all I would love to introduce you to this wonderful group who use their talent for crafts to help support this lovely charity.

As a mother that has experienced a birth of a premature daughter ,who weighed 2 1/2 pounds at birth I can't begin to tell you the worry and stress a parent goes through each second of the day in an event like this. And to have the added worry of providing for the needs of this child are almost unbearable.

For 4 months she was in the hospital and I remember coming in every morning not knowing what happened the night before hoping for the best but fearing the worst. I also remember all the sleepless nights not knowing how many times that night that she would stop breathing, as this is what they say is normal for premature infants. After 4 months of her stay in the hospital she weighed 4 lbs and 3 ounces and we were finally able to bring her home. But for the first 2 years after coming home, we did have some scary times as she had severe asthma attacks that brought us back to the emergency room again and again.

I was lucky to have the support of family and friends during this time. I also now have a wonderful daughter that is 11 years old and only has a minimal of health problems as any other child may have .

So this is why I would be honored to introduce you to
FOR THE LOVE OF BABIES

For the Love of Babies, Inc. is a non profit Missouri Corporation that is completely "run" by volunteers, such as yourself. For the Love of Babies volunteers make clothing and bedding items which are donated to area agencies and given to families of premature and newborn babies in distressed situations.
For the Love of Babies also provides "angel layettes" to families in their time of sorrow. This is indeed one of the most tragic situations a parent can be put in. However, knowing that there are people out there who genuinely care about what they are going through and who take the time to make something special for their angel is truly appreciated.

Hi, my name is Rosemary. I've been sewing since I was a young girl. I watched my mother sew for my sisters and I and was awestruck. When I was old enough to leave the house alone I walked to the nearest fabric store. There I spent hours touching fabrics and pouring over pattern catalogues. I was a strange kid : )My mother gave me small projects to do while she sewed and when I was 12 years old she gave me a sewing machine and a box of fabrics. The first thing I made ironically enough was a purse. Many purses followed. When I was 14 years old I got my first job which happened to be in a garment factory. I was in Heaven!
Over the years I have continued sewing. From clothing for my children to custom orders I have always stayed busy learning new things and refining my work; but I've always returned to purses. I focus mainly on clutch bags of all sizes and styles these days. You'll see my appreciation for Peacocks shine through in my bags as well as my love of embroidery and silk. My name is Rue Kream and my shop is Peaches & Kream. I make sterling jewelry, often incorporating everyday and vintage components, and I also make needle-felted items. I’m drawn to anything that allows me to play with color and balance.

I have a million ideas banging into each other in my head all the time. Most often I write them down, which helps quiet things down in there. About half the time I sit down to create I have a specific idea I want to work on. The other half of the time I just get out a bunch of supplies and pick them up and move them around and let my hands lead instead of my head.

First and foremost I am a mother of two beautiful children, a little boy age three and a baby girl who just turned one. I love fabric; I can go to a fabric store and walk around hours upon hours just looking at the amazing designs. I am literally like a kid in a candy store. I enjoy cooking and hosting great parties for my friends and family. As far back as I can remember I was always painting, baking, decorating, or anything else creative I could get my hands on. My mother being a self taught artist herself and my father being an incredible woodworker has had a great influence on the crafter I am today. Hello my name is Janine Lacey.

I started of at Ridge street collage of Art and Design in the UK. I then specialized in textiles.
I am now living in the south west of France. After bringing up my three boy's, I started working with my mother in law who taught me the techniques of sculpture and ceramic. As a result I make ceramic objects like birds which I exhibit in France.

My interest in textiles came back to me when a friend taught me the art of felt making. I used this knowledge to turn the felt into usable objects like hat’s, scarf’s and bags. I now combine the two mediums in my latest collection; felt and ceramic buttons. My creations are like little paintings with wool, silk and other materials.
Which I love doing.

I fell in love with clay while studying sculpture at the University of Massachusetts. But you need a lot of equipment to make, fire and store large sculpture, so after graduating, I started making small figurines or animals, sculpted or cut out of terracotta cookie-cutter style. I had taught myself to sew Barbie clothes when I was young, and began making my own clothes at 13, when my dad bought me a sewing machine. I still sew and I love all kinds of fabrics, especially if they have a texture that I can print on wet clay.

As for inspiration, mine comes either from art history, I especially adore ancient art, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, pre-Colombian, African and native American art; or I get inspired directly from materials, like a beautiful piece of vintage lace or some silk fabric with a lively print. I think the one thing that inspired me the most was an exhibit I saw at the Met of small temples found in Guerrero, Mexico. I often try to get an architectural element into my pieces.

The idea of making mosaic reliefs came fom the fact that most of the local exhibit spaces here in Lyon are set up to accomodate paintings or wall hangings as opposed to sculpture in the round. I started glueing my figurines onto boards and “filling in” the rest with broken plate tesserae and adding beads. I quickly got two local exhibits and soon thereafter, I opened a shop on etsy. Recently, I’ve been making mini-mosaics in order to offer original pieces at affordable prices.

I'm Susan Green, I live and book-bind in the rural south west of England, sat at my paternal grandfather's desk in a bright yellow room. I make traditionally-bound hardback books with leather spines and fabric covers. My books are inspired by, and feature the natural world; florals, botanicals, paisleys and abstract patterns reminiscent of nature. My leathers speak of the earth in ochres, tans, reds and greens, and the blues and greys of sky and water. I love the precise aspects of bookbinding; the folding of paper, the mathematical formulae for calculating the dimensions of book components, the mechanical workings of joints, the almost obsessive measuring required for a book to be strong, beautiful and worthy of the time and skill poured into it. I get inspired when I browse, magpie-like, through my local fabric shop finding new colours and patterns for my books, imagining the leathers they'll make a good match with, the endpapers and striped headbands they'll make a perfect book with. I also enjoy making soft, miniature leather books that are inspired by the joy of gift-giving and the allure of all things small.

Hi, my name is Laura. I’ve been married for 26 years, and a stay-at-home mom for 15 years with three boys…ages 18, 16, and 7. I learned how to sew when I was younger, but quilting caught my interest about 10 years ago. I loved the beautiful fabric and was fascinated how the quilt blocks fit together to create those wonderful designs! After dabbling in quilting for a few years, I began crafting and using the scroll saw for woodwork. Except for a class here and there, overall, I am a self-taught crafter. To support my obsession of purchasing that wonderful quilt shop fabric and other supplies, I was encouraged to sell the creations I made. Depending upon what inspires me at that moment, I enjoy creating in an array of styles…folk art, primitive, vintage, whimsical, even contemporary. Some of these styles bring back fond memories of childhood visits to my grandparents and cousins in the North San Joaquin Valley of California…and they are a reminder of when times were a little simpler.

Amy began her sewing ventures at the ripe young age of four, demanding her mother trace her torso on a giant piece of forest green knit. From there the preschooler meticulously cut and stitched a long green dress that she refused to take off for a month. An addiction was born. Today, a student of costume design, film production, and college life, Amy works out of a small, overcrowded attic bedroom to find and create fun, funky, and recycled fashions that are good for the environment, your wallet, and the name of fashion.

I have always struggled with balancing the right and left sides of my brain. As a child, my favorite classes were arts and crafts classes, but I also happened to be good at math and was encouraged by my teachers to expand on my math skills. As a teen, I spent countless hours in my bedroom creating crafty gifts for my family and friends after getting my Calculus homework out of the way. I have always loved art and creativity, but growing up in an Asian family I was told that you couldn't make a living off of art (even though my younger sister became an opera singer; good to know my parents saw the light later in life). I became and engineer, and am successful in my career, but as my day job took more and more of my time, it also gave me less time to do the creative things I loved.

Eventually I realized that my engineering background taught me how to logically picture problems in my head and think methodically. I began to apply these principles to my life in general and found that it gave me new perspective on life. One day, between these principles, a bag of pipe cleaners, and a bit of serendipity, I discovered that I had a hidden talent for transforming average pipe cleaners into works of art! I've had no formal training, did not read any books, it just happened! Hence Fuzzington was born!

I am inspired by Simplicity. With the world being so complicated, and with the recent abundance of problems in current events, we sometimes forget to step back and recognize the little miracles that are happening around us constantly. Therefore, if I can take something as simple as a pipe cleaner and turn it into something that makes someone smile, I feel like I have brought something good into this world.

I describe myself as a city girl that lives in the country. I grew up in one of the best cities in the world, San Francisco. This was in the 70’s and 80’s so it was a little different then, but still so colorful, diverse and spectacular. Even now when I visit I feel the energy and pulse of that City I love. Now I find myself on 5 acres in the woods on the outskirts of the cutest little Gold Rush town in the Sierra Foothills, Nevada City.
It is a great spot for raising our two boys, 9 and 11. We experience all the seasons and each one is so beautiful! From the daffodils in spring to the incredible fall colors.

I have always liked crafty projects since I can remember, but it wasn’t until after my first son was born I started sewing, which is funny since all three of my sisters always sewed, guess it’s in the blood. I started with pillows, and have done numerous quilts, and costumes. My latest project are fun little banners. I am addicted to fabric. I see some and I have to have it, even if I have no idea what I’ll do with it. It’s starting to get out of hand - almost.

I started out my professional life a million miles from jewelry design – for seven years, I was an intellectual property lawyer, helping clients protect their trademarks. About six years ago, I wandered into a local bead shop, bought some gemstone rondelles and the rest, as they say, is history. What started as a hobby quickly grew into a near-obsession, something I looked forward to doing every free moment. After my daughter was born, I decided to stay at home with her rather than return to work. I then proceeded to spend the days with her and then create jewelry in the evenings, sometimes working well past midnight without even noticing the time.

I started out using basic bead stringing techniques, which I still use to create complex multistrand necklaces, using complementary gemstones in various sizes and shapes. I also employ wire wrapping techniques to create three-dimensional, unique gemstone clusters and handmade “chains” of gems, with a result that is labor-intensive but immensely satisfying. A little over a year ago, I branched out into metalsmithing, which allows complete freedom in creativity; the only limit is my own skill base, which I am constantly striving to expand.

My focus is on precious and semiprecious gemstones, including vintage and undyed coral, and precious metals. Perhaps as the result of my lifelong interest in art, I have a passion for color and attempt to use gemstones to create painterly effects. Most of my pieces are one of a kind – I try to keep my work fresh and use my creative freedom to express my evolving vision.

Hi! My name is Kim Nelson of Kim's Custom Cards and Gifts. I was a graphic designer with a printing company for 4 years. When I had my daughter about a year and a half ago, I was blessed to be able to stay home with her. I was doing freelance work from home for awhile, but when the main company I was working for was put on a budget freeze, I had to search out other avenues of income.

Jen Singh is a part time freelance illustrator and graphic designer, full time mom of 2 and creates as much art as possible in between! There are many inspirations she draws on: each visit to Lake Michigan, where she grew up, her bucolic backyard, and the mountains of North Georgia and Florida panhandle beaches to name a few. Creating handmade jewelry is the “pot of gold” at the end of my creative rainbow. Ever since I was I child, I knew that some form of art was in my future. I began my professional life as a graphic artist which later evolved into the art of portraiture. The fine art of painting, oddly enough, didn't seem to fill that creative need in me. I am currently taking a career break and being a stay at home Mom. This time has allowed me to explore my love for art and glass. Hi there! I'm Alison. I fell in love with polymer clay 3 years ago after having my two boys, who are only a year apart. I needed some haven and a way to exercise my brain after putting them to sleep at night!:) I start with a lump of clay and through many, many processes, end up with something, in my eyes, beautiful. Such a huge sense of satisfaction! My husband graciously supports me in my work, although he does grumble as my "work station" slowly seems to be growing throughout the house. The shop’s name “Intres”, in my native language, wants to say "moments" And I put this name because everything began this way, when initially I was dedicating to this world only small moments. My real name is Maria and I was born and I live in Vigo, Spain.
I have a lot of sources of inspiration. An illustration of an infantile story, a picture, a comic, a toy, a series of cartoon, a house that you see when I’m walking, a building … thousand things. I follow the works of other craftsmen, see your new creations, there are people really good at this world and sometimes new ideas arise departing from techniques different techniques from mine.

I love making soap, the process of finding the perfect scent, then combing through my stash of micas to find the perfect colors planning the swirls and layers keeps my up at night. Bath bombs are another one of my loves. I am updating my like with fresh and fun designs like my Happy Birthday Wishes and Lemon Lime bath bombs. Inspiration is a funny thing for me in that I am afraid I cannot find its source. I am moved by color and patterns and ideas and love and great conversations. I can ramble about inspiration all day. My dad asked me one day where I get all my ideas from – he asked as though my creations are so fanciful and out of the blue. I guess the short answer is there is no specific point of reference for my inspiration. I was born inspired. My ideas ebb and flow, evolve and sometimes bubble up from out of nowhere, but inspiration is nearly always there in some form.

I grew up around sewing as my father is a retired tailor and my mother was an avid crafter when she was able. I have many memories of my Mom strolling me around the fabric store and making all my clothes. At the time, it didn't hold as much charm for me as it does now!

I am an accountant in my day job. Unfortunately, being "creative" in that profession is frowned upon by the IRS. So, I have found my outlet with sewing. In the past I have owned a custom window treatment business. At this point in my life, I feel I have found my nitch by making handbags. I get excited just seeing new fabrics and envisioning what could be done with them. I am having a blast!

I find my greatest inspiration in God’s creations, particularly animals and the beauty of nature. I'm Kati, I was born in Sweden but left home when I was 18 years old to live in Israel. I live with my beloved family, my wonderful hubby & our 3 magical grown up kids in a small & beautiful place called kibbutz.
Art has always been one of my main hobbies & interests but it was only 4 years ago that i went & studied formally.
For the last 2 years we have our own business called Tammnoony (means octopus in Hebrew), where I can combine 2 great loves of mine which is teaching art to children & painting & drawing on stuff and creating my own designs. i'm also a great animals lover so you can see them in my paintings, showing on almost every design i make. I use water based paint & varnish on all the items, trying to preserve a better & clean environment.

I was born in Moscow to a sculptor father and a scientist mother. I never fancied drawing and painting, but liked sculpting and gravitated to miniatures even in my early childhood. I was born left-handed and my grandmother taught me all kinds of feminine handcrafts like knitting, crocheting and embroidery in an effort to put right this “unnaturalness”. I didn’t become right-handed but now can effectively use both hands which is very helpful in my current line of art.
I fell in love with tiny glass seed beads when I was really young – 6 or 7. I also always liked pearls and colorful natural stones. So I found a way to use seed beads as jeweler uses metals – to set off and enhance the beauty of natural materials.
On a personal level – I am married and mother of 5 grown children. I also have a dog and a cat. We leave in a charming town Maale Adumim near Jerusalem, Israel.

My name is Laurie Ryan, I’ve lived in Norfolk for over 30 years, and I’ve always loved photography and have 30 years experience with a 35mm camera.
My images have been published a number of times, the International Library of photography has accepted 18 of my images for a number of their books. I was invited to send 2 images each for their 2003 and 2005 Best Photos books. I have received a couple of special awards for my images at the International Society of Photographers conference held in DC in April of 2004 and in their 2006 conference in Las Vegas.
The Virginia Zoological Park has used my images in a number of ways, in their news letters, for press releases in, their animal adoption program, advertisements, their educational programs, their web sites and they used 8 of my images in a calendar for a market campaign.
An image of mine was also published in a children’s book a few years ago called Animals Have Cousins Too.
I had 28 images on display at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens in the summer of 2003.
In July of 2005 ten images were on display at The Mystical Attic at Wards Corner and later that same year some were put on display at a restaurant in Suffolk called The Magnolia Blossom. The restaurant still has those images to date.
In April of 2005 I also started to market my own greeting and note cards using my images and I’ve very happy to say they are selling very well.
The summer of 2006 the Suffolk Art Museum displayed 2 of my images during one of their open shows.
I also started adding to my consignment shops finding more stores to carry my images especially the cards.
Early in 2007 the Mystical Attic at Virginia Beach VA started displaying 3 of my images on a permanent basis.
Also in early 2007 the Phoebus Art Gallery displayed one of my images for their open show
Summer of 2007 the Suffolk Art Museum again displayed 2 more images during its open show and they both sold!
Summer of 2007 1 image went on display at the Drawn to Art gallery in Ghent.
Summer of 2007 1 image is going on display at the Riverview Gallery in Portsmouth.
July of 2007 I was invited to set up at the 5 Points Farmers Market at Macarthur Mall in Norfolk. .I sold a number of items at that show.
In 2008 I was invited to submit art work to the Hampton Convention Center on 2 different occasions for display one of which is still being displayed there.
Also in 2008 I started showing images at the Artist Gallery on Norfolk Ave in VA Beach VA some of which sold as well there.
Also in 2008 I started showing images at the River View Gallery in Portsmouth VA and sold some items there as well. Now in March of 2009 I have rented a space there and also have cards for sale there.

My name is Maryse, I am French.

I am a professional painter and exhibit in the DC Metro area.
I studied art formerly; I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts in printmaking and drawing and a Masters in Fine Arts in painting and drawing. Previously, I had studied Biology and Chemistry.

I left Europe (I lived in France and Switzerland) when I was 22 to be a volunteer in Niger, West Africa. Since then, I lived in many places; Niger but also Mali, Senegal, Haiti, Egypt, Algeria, Oman and Indonesia.

I also lived in different states in the US, Delaware, Alaska, Washington, New Jersey, North Carolina, Georgia and now North Virginia.

Traveling made me aware of the environment in a big way. I believe in recycling and my art is focusing more and more on re-using products especially paper. I save paper materials and create collages to make tags and bookmarks.
About 15 years ago, i started to create my assemblage brooches using materials I found on my walks and materials people will donate.

My name is Esther Ebey and since I also market a few handmade items for my sisters and mother, craftyebeys is a family network. After 26 years in the Information Technology field, I left the corporate job scene three years ago, and have been re-creating myself ever since. I love working with fabrics and my handmade items are an extension of the sewing skills I learned as young person. Most of my products are designed for practicality of use for a person or for the home, although sometimes I will make something more whimsical just for fun. Sometimes I will use a commercial pattern but often times I will design and make my own pattern. I draw inspiration from seeing a great piece of fabric and letting my imagination and visualization process take hold as to various items that would look good made up in that fabric. I also draw up on numerous ideas given to me from friends and family. I add new items to my shop almost weekly so be sure to check back from time to time.

Thank you so much for wanting to feature my little etsy shop. I am a woman who cannot decide what she wants to do when she grows up. I wanted to paint, then crochet, then knit, then felt and also loves to sew. Rather than pick one, I decided to have fun with all of them and I think it shows in my eclectic listings. I have been painting since 1987 and playing with yarn and fabric all my life. I lust after discarded wool and cashmere sweaters and go on a hunting spree at least once a week. Turning them into felted treasures is so much fun. I am proud to say little kids around the globe are sporting my creations. Most recently one of my aprons is now featured in the new magazine (APRONOLOGY) by Somerset Studios. I am now officially an Apronologist. I have been expressing myself using dye and fabric since 1969, when I began transfering to fabric what I had learned studying painting. My work has included large wall-sized hangings, as well as hand loomed and dyed rag rugs, and I have had several gallery shows of my work in the past. Now, I would rather make art to wear instead of art to gather dust on a wall. After spending 20+ years teaching adolescents with learning disabilities, I retired with my little pension to work full time at my art.

I have been working in South Florida as a freelance artist for the last 16 years, mostly doing murals. South Florida is such a beautiful place, and so unusual, that is would be impossible not to be inspired by everything around me. In college I studied both fine art and art history, and developed a complete infatuation with the decorative design seen around old building and churches. I especially fell in love with the Rococo era, and all of its details and romanticism. After the birth of my children, I decided to but all of my interests together, to create lovely designs that are pleasing to the eye and the soul. Mostly, I love to paint, and I am my happiest when I am creating.

Art for me is more than just expressive creativity... it is the voice of my soul. It is a release, an outlet, a way to 'press my face against the screen of a window' to breathe in the fresh outside air! I have Multiple Sclerosis; a very progressively confining disease. Yet, the more I am confined and seemingly 'boxed in', the more I crave to shout and sing out! Wire Art is the newest 'song I am singing' and each style of art I engage in has it's own musical tone. Classical, Jazz and quite often funny little spurts of a child's sidewalk marching band! It gives me relief, joy and delight. And this is what I hope it gives others as well.

Earth and People Friendly Fiber Art. I love to push boundaries and make items that are eco friendly and unique. Finding a new purpose for something that no one wants is incredibly appealing. My favorite mediums are hemp, bamboo, upcycled material/clothing and wool. I reuse as much packing material and envelopes to ship my items.
My passion for the earth does not end with my business. Every, year my family and I grow as much food as we are able. We are actively trying to reduce our carbon footprint by reducing our consumption, reusing what we can and recycling what we don't.

Hhmmm bio. I started out as a writer and then fell into doing hand made cards. A few years ago I moved to doing larger pieces. I love to paint Buddhas and bowls and incorporate text into my work. Collage and mixed media is a favourite way to work. I love abstract art and tend to work in a graphic way with colour and shapes. With blogging I am back to writing again so I feel like I've come full circle and married my 2 loves visual art and writing (does that make me a bigamist?) I love humour and quirky things!

What inspires me in my art is:
Colour- I can get obsessed with a colour and use one or two colours almost exclusively for a while ( chartreuse and magenta right now)
Beautiful paper - origami, art and wrapping paper, I love to use painted pages from old books & newspaper.
Home and space design with a modern, simple, perhaps an Asian flare:
